  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large overripe bananas
  • 2 large eggs
  • 7 tablespoons sour milk or buttermilk To make sour milk: add 1 teaspoon vinegar to milk and let sit 5 minutes
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chocolate chips divided

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add mashed bananas, eggs, sour milk, salt, and baking soda to the mixture. Mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before removing from pan.

This banana bread is perfect for using ripe bananas and makes a wonderful breakfast or snack.
