  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1.25 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips plus some for topping (optional)

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar and mix well.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the wet mixture and stir until smooth.
  5. Mix in mashed bananas until evenly incorporated.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips.
  8. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto prepared baking sheets. Top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
  9. Bake for approximately 12 minutes or until edges are golden.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
