  • 2 cups unbleached flour
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.25 cup frozen butter (half stick)
  • 0.75 cups buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries thaw if frozen

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. Using a grater, grate the frozen butter into the flour mixture. Mix well until evenly distributed.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla.
  5. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the blueberries gently.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the sheet, forming each into a round shape.
  8. Bake for 18 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
