- In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until combined. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla, and mix well. Sift in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt, then whisk until smooth. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 20-22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.
