  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.33 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning about 2 tablespoons if using homemade
  • 0.25 teaspoon cumin
  • 4 ounces canned mild diced green chiles
  • 0.25 cup broth or water use 0.125 cup if making in slow cooker
  • 0.5 cup salsa
  • 4 ounces cream cheese at room temperature, cubed
  • 2.25 cups shredded Mexican blend or cheddar cheese
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • chopped lettuce
  • chopped tomatoes
  • sliced olives
  • chopped onions
  • chopped cilantro
  • jalapenos

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over high heat. Drain excess fat if needed. Add onions and cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Lower heat to medium. Stir in taco seasoning, cumin, broth, chiles, and salsa. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in cream cheese until melted. Add 2 cups shredded cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer dip to casserole dish or top with cheese and bake until bubbly and golden.
  6. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Top with desired toppings and serve warm with tortilla chips.
